J. A. Megara is a lifelong science fiction and fantasy reader who spent twenty-five years as a podiatric surgeon before finally putting the stories in his head on the page. Seraphant: The Cycle of the Darkened Thread is his debut novel and the first book in a planned series.

When he's not writing or in the operating room, he can be found building furniture from raw timber, tending his saltwater reef tank, practicing ballroom dancing, or logging flight hours toward his pilot's license. He speaks three languages, has traveled to twelve countries, and has been playing the piano since he was eight.

He lives in New Jersey with his family.
